Collaborative Art for Teens
The art work on this page was completed in a class I taught for teenagers. We created a datum, a theme, that would tie the individual pieces together to create one large piece of art. In one piece it was the student’s hands, in another it was their silhouettes from photos, and another, a random flowing line. The students then collaborated together on the overall composition of the work, ie. the layout of the hands, the silhouettes and the random lines. The individual students then worked with the assigned medium and datum to create an individual work that would be part of a larger art piece. I have found that young students will work very hard, carefully, and pay attention to detail on their individual pieces once they buy into the concept that they are responsible for the whole.
